❓ Homebody Nursing – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
Q: What makes Homebody Nursing different from other home care companies?
A: We’re a nurse-owned, family-run service — not a big corporate chain. We hand-select our caregivers, prioritize compassion, and keep costs lower by avoiding heavy overhead. We also keep care personal: no rushed check-ins, no random caregivers showing up. Just consistency, trust, and meaningful time with each client.
-
Q: Do you really offer only a 2-hour minimum?
A: Yes! Unlike many large agencies that enforce 4-hour minimums to cover their overhead, we proudly provide a 2-hour minimum. Two hours is long enough for a real visit — showering, meals, housekeeping, companionship — without forcing families into paying for unused time.
-
Q: What are your current rates?
A: Our typical rate is $70 for 2 hours of care (per diem). This means you pay a flat daily fee rather than an hourly rate with extra add-ons. Right now, we’re offering $10 off your first visit as an introductory special.
For families who sign a contract for at least 3 days per week (2 hours per day or more), the rate becomes all-inclusive, covering transportation, pharmacy pick-up, and even specialized nursing care.
We believe in transparency. Your rate also helps cover:
Caregiver wages and benefits
Mileage, gas, tolls, and vehicle upkeep
Staff background checks and clearances
Licensing and accreditation fees
Insurance, taxes, and continued staff education
Community outreach programs (like our Community Respite Fund)
-
Q: Do you accept waiver programs for payment?
A: At this time, we do not accept state waiver programs. However, we are actively working toward qualifying in the future. In the meantime, many families choose to let us provide supplemental care while they wait for their waiver-covered services to begin. We encourage you to check back with us as we expand our options.
-
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: Currently, we operate as a cash-pay service. Some clients may be able to use long-term care insurance or Veteran benefits alongside our services.
-
Q: Do you offer discounts for Veterans?
A: Yes! We proudly offer 10% off services for Veteran clients. Thank you for your service — it’s our honor to serve you in return.
-
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We make payments simple and flexible:
💻 Online Payments: You can pay directly through our website using Squarespace, Stripe, or Link. All major options available online are accepted.
📝 Checks & Money Orders: Payable to Homebody Nursing. Please note: if a check bounces, the client is responsible for the returned check fee. After two returned checks, we will no longer accept checks from that client.
💵 Cash Payments: To protect you and ensure receipt, cash payments may only be collected by the owners, Vennessa or Ayzeem Bey.
This system ensures both convenience and accountability for families and caregivers.
-
Q: Do you provide medical care?
A: We are not a medical home health agency. Instead, we provide non-medical support with a nursing foundation — including personal care, companionship, meal prep, light housekeeping, transportation, medication & diabetic assistance under your physician’s plan of care.
-
Q: Do you give back to the community?
A: Yes! Through our Community Respite Fund, we help local seniors afford short-term care when needed. We also engage in outreach projects to build stronger family and community bonds.
-
Q: Can you give me an example of what happens during a 2-hour visit?
A: Yes! Here’s a snapshot:
9:30 AM – Arrival & Conversation with the client, family, and even pets.
Shower/Bath Time (client sets the pace; we never rush) plus full post-care (drying, lotion, hair styling, dressing).
Breakfast & Housekeeping: client enjoys breakfast while the caregiver vacuums, tidies, swaps laundry, and empties trash.
Activity/Walk: a short walk outside or a card game to end the visit on a positive, engaging note.
-
Q: How does a caregiver’s full workday look in this model?
A: Caregivers often work 2-3 clients in one day. For example:
9:30–11:30 AM: Client #1 in Cheswick
12:00–2:00 PM: Client #2 in Cheswick
2:30–4:30 PM: Client #3 in Highland Park
Paid break + travel time included (8-hour shift total)
This model makes scheduling efficient while giving caregivers steady, meaningful work.
